Cultivating A Positive Mindset

As we approach May, it’s time to develop and launch into creating a healthy and positive mindset. Most people start in January in honor of the New Year. But, most people (myself included) like to welcome in the spring season with new habits, cleaning our homes, throwing away unused and unwanted items.

Here are a few ways to help you introduce a more positive mindset and lifestyle:

BE GRATEFUL

Appreciate all things….

Good, Bad or Ugly. Learn to appreciate the small things in life as well.

You can increase your happiness by practicing gratitude regularly. Write down 3-5 things every day that you’re grateful for but do this before you begin your day. Keeping a record of all of the positive events you were thankful for could help boost your mood throughout your day.

This practice helps you become more aware of the little things in life that you may take for granted.  Create a more fulfilling life by learning to be grateful for life. It can be as simple as someone holding the elevator door as they see you running towards them. The little girl who waved hi to you as her mom hurried past with her to school.

Take some time to reflect on what you appreciate and meditate on them. You can always upgrade the list as time goes by.

PURSUE YOUR PASSIONS

Live and Let Live!

It is essential to pursue your passion, dreams, and aspirations. Following your passions is what gives you joy in life. So many of us get stuck in the rat race or never have the opportunity to achieve our goals and desires. Focusing on yourself is not selfish. Please resist the urge to allow anyone to tell you otherwise because it is a matter of opinion. Become the best version of yourself.

You only get one life to live. 40% of your happiness is based solely on your reaction to your life experiences. You have the power to change your perspective. When you realize happiness comes from within, you can be more intentional about pursuing your goals and passions. You can indeed start living a life full of joy.

BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF.

Despite what one may believe, life is not a race to overcome your hurdles and fears. It is about learning lessons. Healing takes time, patience, and love. Everyone has their process of how they go through their roadblocks in life. Sometimes, we struggle and stumble in life because we want things to manifest rapidly without putting in the work. If you’re not learning the life lessons, you’ll more than likely have to repeat the test. Let the universe lead you, and allow your intuition to be your guide.

Allow yourself to be happy. Enjoy the simple things in life. Life is short, so you might as well make the best of it. Although you can’t predict the future, you can co-create the desired energy. Your thoughts and habits design your life. What gives you butterflies? What song makes your heart sing? Joining a community can also help with that. Retreats can be a game-changer as well. Try to go for a walk on a trail. Catch up with an old friend.

Conclusion:

Cultivating a positive mindset should not be dreadful, nor should it be considered a chore. However, your journey to create a positive attitude and lifestyle has to be intentional.

Please feel free to list a few ways in the comments that you choose to cultivate a more positive mindset.

Peace and Love.

Salasia “Shuga” Brown is the electrifying founder/owner of Big Apple-based Shuga Sweet Events—a burgeoning Lifestyle brand; a plant-based, Healthy Lifestyle cook/consultant; accomplished singer/songwriter; voiceover artist; and digital media influencer.

Shuga initially became a sleeper icon in the urban New York events/pop-up culinary scene. Her decadent, vegan/vegetarian take on World and Fusion cuisines—coupled with her sultry, spirit-stirring jazz, reggae, and soul vocalist stylings, made her a cult favorite of the downtown, sundown crowd.

A honey-throated musical prodigy, Shuga’s mezzo/alto/soprano singer—and tandem songwriter talents, were classically honed throughout her life, giving rise to her background vocals, lead vocals, and songwriting work with some of the most eclectic acts in the industry. Equally, her culinary prowess displayed itself early in her formative years, and her passions for integrative health, kind and sustainable cuisine, and exotic flavor profiles have led to her positioning as an in-demand Healthy Lifestyle coach/consultant—particularly for clients interested in the transition to a more immune-supportive, planet-friendly, plant-based diet.

Shuga is also spicing up the virtual circuit with her blogs and voiceover projects. Her vision is to join in the effort to jazz the world into a better place, with her person- and planet-affirming Lifestyle brand, and sweet, soul-stirring sound.
